Agency Partners

This planning effort is reflective of a historic regional collaboration among Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, and DeKalb counties, community improvement districts (CIDs), the ATL, GDOT, and MARTA. Previous studies have explored the potential for transit services along the I-285 corridor. In March 2022, regional agency partners signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) detailing funding collaboration to advance study of corridor transit services in coordination with GDOT's I-285 Express Lanes planning and design activities. Regional agency partners include MARTA, the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL), GDOT, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett Counties, and the Atlanta Regional Commission. This study builds on MARTA and ATL's 2022 I-285 Top End Rapid Transit Segment Station Plan that introduced a stop-to-stop concept using the proposed express lanes to connect 11 transit stations along the I-285 corridor.

This regional collaboration is central to the planning efforts. Read the list of partner studies being evaluated to help us identify the best solutions for our region.
